Marketing & Communication Strategies for Print Media
Organized by the AIANY Marketing and Communications Committee, this event is part of the AIANY Summer Practice Series, a summer-long series of weekly programs that focus on the challenges of small- to medium-sized firms and how to market your practice. Join us for this morning program at Steelcase where we will learn how to get published in magazines, books, and other print media. We will also explore ways to put together a successful application for design awards. The event will provide tools and resources to form a network of small firm principals and business consultants who can offer support in building and marketing your business.
Speakers:
Alicia L. Koledin, Assoc. AIA, Founding Principal, AKcelerate
Tami Hausman, PhD, Founder, Hausman LLC
Andrea Monfried, Founder, Andrea Monfried Editions
With an academic background in both architecture and journalism, Alicia Koledin immediately established a path of differentiation in a career that has spanned two decades. Now at the helm of AKcelerate, Koledin shares this insight with her clients to help them achieve their business goals. By putting relationships at the forefront of all of her work—whether in business development, marketing or communications—she builds better ones with her clients, and on behalf of her clients. She effectively bridges the communication gap between owner and service provider and has honed an award-winning marketing style based on honesty, clarity, and shared values.
For more than 25 years, Tami Hausman has been an expert advisor to top firms in the AEC industry who seek out her insights and knowledge. Hausman creates customized communications strategies to strengthen her clients’ positions in the marketplace and open doors to targeted audiences. In 2008, she founded Hausman LLC, whose clients include national and international architects, related professional services firms, and non-profit organizations. Prior to founding Hausman LLC, Hausman worked in-house for several prestigious architecture firms in New York; her background in marketing and public relations is complemented by graduate studies in architectural history.
Andrea Monfried is an architectural editor and publisher with more than 25 years of experience. She is the founder of Andrea Monfried Editions, a publishing consultancy for books on architecture and the design professions. She has also worked at Rizzoli International Publications, Monacelli Press, and Images Publishing Group. Andrea started her career at Progressive Architecture magazine and, from 1990 to 1992, was Oculus’s Deputy Editor under Suzanne Stephens. She is the Oculus adviser and a public director of AIA New York.
