AIANY New Practices Committee along hosts a series of lectures by winning firms of the New Practices New York 2018 Competition. This lecture series will be held at the new Benjamin Moore showroom. New Practices New York, a biennial competition since 2006, serves as New York City’s preeminent platform to recognize and promote new and innovative architecture and design firms. This evening’s talk will feature a conversation between Tei Carpenter, Principal of Agency—Agency, and Andrés Jaque of Office for Political Innovation.

Founded by Tei Carpenter, Agency—Agencyseeks out an expanded agency for architecture  in society, engaging both buildings and the systems beyond buildings. The practice is currently involved with three types of design work: non-profit, client-based built projects; competition-winning speculative designs; and self-initiated sponsored research fueled by a sense of optimism and the possibility for public engagement. Methodologically, the practice combines research, teaching, and design to engage in discussions within the discipline and more broadly.

Speakers:

Tei Carpenter, Principal, Agency—Agency
Andrés Jaque, Principal, Andrés Jaque Architects, Office for Political Innovation
