The renowned architecture event series “Architects, not Architecture” is set to debut in America with an event in New York City. After hosting successful events in 15 cities in Europe and Australia and fostering connections among architects and enthusiasts globally through both online and in-person forums, we are excited to announce this new addition to our international event lineup. We are thrilled to officially “cross the pond” and connect with the incredible architectural community in the US.
“Architects, not Architecture,” or “AnA,” offers an exceptional opportunity to intimately know globally renowned architects, as the format focuses on the stories behind the architects instead of their buildings. Since its inception in 2015, this unique premise has enabled audiences worldwide to experience deeply personal narratives.
On Tuesday, March 5, 2024, at 6:30pm at the Brickworks Design Studio in Manhattan, AnA will showcase the stories of Bjarke Ingels and Toshiko Mori. The evening’s talks will focus on their individual life stories and the defining moments that have shaped their paths in life and architecture:.

– Toshiko Mori, Toshiko Mori Architect, New York – www.tmarch.com
A visionary architect from Denmark, Bjarke Ingels is the founder of the Bjarke Ingels Group (BIG). His designs are a mix of playful practicality and sustainability, reshaping modern urban landscapes. Major works include the innovative VM Houses and Mountain Dwellings in Copenhagen, and the striking VIA 57 West in Manhattan. Ingels’ philosophy focuses on sustainable development and environmental consciousness, aiming to create spaces that are both functional and inspiring. A distinguished professor at Harvard and a pioneering architect, Toshiko Mori leads the office Toshiko Mori Architect. Born in Kobe, Japan, and moving to New York as a teenager, Mori’s architecture is deeply influenced by her early experiences and cultural background. Her projects, characterized by a keen focus on material innovation and social equity, include the Thread: Artists’ Residency and Cultural Center in Senegal and master plans for the Brooklyn Public Library Central Branch and Buffalo Botanical Gardens. Mori’s approach integrates art with architecture, reflecting her belief in the transformative power of design.
We eagerly anticipate enriching dialogues with our inspirational speakers.
Doors open at 6 pm. Talks commence at 6:30 pm.
