With London witnessing a resurgent public sector with improved capabilities, funding avenues, and delivery mechanisms at hand, it is critical that any new public housing shifts existing negative perceptions. At the same time, public housing in New York suffers from a similar reputation.

How are these major cities working to ensure quality is at the heart of new housing provided? What are they doing to bring old stock up to standard? What role can the industry play in ensuring quality in design, planning, and management? Can the role of the public authority shift to catalyst or guarantor of quality throughout the process?

Introductions:
Peter Murray, Chairman, New London Architecture (LON Chair)
Daniel McPhee, Executive Director, Urban Design Forum
Hana Kassem, AIA, Principal, KPF

Speakers New York:
