Join the New York City Economic Development Corporation (NYCEDC) and its partners for a pre-Climate Week event exploring the future of mass timber in New York City.

In May 2026, Mayor Mamdani released ‘Block by Block: The Housing Plan for a New Era,’ which now serves as New York City’s blueprint to accelerate production of affordable homes for New Yorkers across the five boroughs. As the City works to build more housing and reduce the carbon footprint of construction, mass timber is emerging as a promising solution. By combining low carbon building materials with modern construction methods, mass timber has the potential to support faster project delivery, strengthen regional manufacturing, and create new workforce opportunities.

Since its launch in 2023, the NYC Mass Timber Studio has supported project teams in advancing mass timber projects while generating insights to inform local industry growth. As interest in mass timber continues to expand, the conversation is shifting beyond individual projects to the broader network of manufacturers, designers, workforce organizations, and public agencies needed to support its growth.

Through two panel conversations, this event will feature speakers exploring how mass timber and industrialized construction can support faster, lower-carbon housing delivery, as well as the investments, partnerships, and workforce pathways needed to strengthen a regional mass timber industry.

The event will highlight upcoming opportunities with the New York City Mass Timber Studio and conclude with a networking reception for attendees.

We invite all interested industry leaders, project teams, and community partners to join the conversation and help build the partnerships needed to grow New York City’s mass timber ecosystem.

If you register for a virtual ticket, you will receive an email with a Zoom link to access the program.
