Join our AIANY Emerging New York Architects Committee Meeting “Serendipity & Plan,” presented by Ling-Li Tseng, Chung-Wei Lee, Buzz Wei, and Yu-Hsiang Lin. This is a conversation with founders of awarding-winning design studios. The speakers will share their design ethos between serendipity and plan. They will reflect on their journeys from emerging professionals with international backgrounds to starting their own successful practices and inspiring the next generation in academia. These architects practice both architectural and artistic installation and provide an inspiring intercultural thinking from a Taiwanese-born Architects’ perspective.

About the Speakers:
Ling-Li Tseng is an architectural designer and installation artist whose work spans spatial design and public art. She holds master’s degrees from The Cooper Union and Harvard GSD, and previously worked as a Designer-Maker at Heatherwick Studio in London. She is currently Associate Professor at the Graduate Institute of Architecture, National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University, and co-founder of Serendipity Studio. In recent years, she has curated and designed numerous public-facing cultural projects. Her works, including the Taiwan Creative Expo Hualien Pavilion and Design Expo for New Taipei City, received the Red Dot Design Award: Best of the Best. In 2023, she represented Taiwan at the London Design Biennale, where the Taiwan Pavilion was awarded the Best Design Medal.
Chung-Wei Lee, AIA, Co-Founder at Plan Plan Architecture, licensed architect of New York who has been practicing in the field of architecture and design across different scales and typologies in the United States and Taiwan for the past 12 years. He participated in many award-winning projects, such as the Visitor Center of Art Omi Pavilions @Chatham , Battery Playscape, Minnewaska State Park Visitor Center, and 50 Ninth. Chung-Wei holds a Master of Architecture II degree from The Cooper Union in New York City, USA, and a Bachelor of Architecture degree with honors from Chung Yuan Christian University in Taiwan. He is a recipient of the RTF Sustainability Award and the New Talent Award of Taiwan’s National Golden Award for Architecture. His recent writings and works have appeared in Taiwan Architect magazine, the Architectural Institute of Taiwan Journal, and Architecture of Nature / Nature of Architecture by Diana Agrest.
Buzz Wei, AIA, Co-Founder at Plan Plan Architecture, licensed architect with over a decade of experience in design and project management across New York and Taiwan. Prior to founding Plan Plan Architecture, he served as Associate Director at Fogarty Finger Architecture, where he focused on condominium and rental housing projects throughout the tri-state area. While obtaining multifamily as his domain, he has expanded his involvement to other typologies and scales. He combines his knowledge of building design with an acute sensibility for detailing, proportion, and materials to find creative solutions to day-to-day design problems. Buzz received his Bachelor of Architecture from Chung Yuan Christian University in Taiwan and a Master of Science in Advanced Architecture Design from Columbia University. He is the recipient of both Lucille Smyser Lowenfish Memorial Prize and Taiwan’s National Golden architecture award.
Yu-Hsiang Lin, Co-Founder at Plan Plan Architecture, architect and BIM specialist with over 10 years of experience in a wide range of design projects from retail, workplace, commercial office to multifamily. His interest is not only in the creation of environments and objects, but also in the process of materialization of design thinking and delivery with more efficiency. Previously Hsiang has participated in many projects in Leong Leong Architecture, including Los Angeles LGBT Center; Ray Philly, a multifamily development in Philadelphia; ONX Studio, R13 Denim Store and Everlane Flagships in New York. Hsiang received his Master of Urban Design degree from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor and his Bachelor of Architecture degree from Chung Yuan Christian University in Taiwan.
The committees of AIA New York are the foundations from which the Chapter positions itself in the field of architecture, whether through discussion, advocacy, policy making and development, event and exhibition planning, or other endeavors.
Committees meet monthly, usually at the Center for Architecture. AIA members, AIA associate members, and general public are all welcome to participate.
