New Fellow Salon with Mary Elizabeth Rusz, FAIA and Bruce Eisenberg, FAIA

AIA New York is proud of the members who have been elevated to the College of Fellows and has founded a series of New Fellow Salons so other professionals can learn more about their work and achievements. Join us for an evening with Bruce Eisenberg, FAIA and Mary Elizabeth Rusz, FAIA—two Fellows who have made significant contributions to the New York City Housing Authority.

Bruce Eisenberg, FAIA, Deputy Director, Design Department, NYC Housing Authority
As Deputy Director of the Design Department in the New York City Housing Authority, Bruce Eisenberg leads a team of architects, landscape architects, and design professionals who are reimagining how public housing is designed. Prior to NYCHA, Eisenberg oversaw large, complex public-sector projects in the New York area as Director of the New York Architectural Studios and Vice President at STV. As Director of Architecture at the NYC Department of Parks and Recreation, Eisenberg enhanced design standards for such high-profile projects as the High Line, Lincoln Center, and the 59th Street Recreation Center. Eisenberg graduated from Washington University’s School of Architecture. He has held leadership positions in AIA New York State’s Executive Board, the AIANY Historic Buildings Committee and Interiors Committee, and regularly participates in AIANY’s Housing, Design for Aging, and Interiors Committees.

Mary Elizabeth Rusz, FAIA 
Mary Elizabeth Rusz’s career has involved posts in both the public and private sectors, with urban regeneration as her focus, including: creating contextual zoning with the NYC Department of City Planning, managing cultural and courts projects with the NYC Department of Design and Construction, and serving as design lead for several large-scale neighborhood plans with the NYC Housing Authority. Rusz is a long-standing AIANY member, serving on both its Housing Committee and Planning & Urban Design Committee, and is a Fellow with the Urban Design Forum. She is currently preparing an architecture primer for young people. Rusz received her Bachelor of Architecture from the University of Toronto, John H. Daniels Faculty of Architecture, Landscape and Design, and her Master of Science in Architecture and Urban Design from the Columbia University Graduate School of Architecture, Planning and Preservation.
