About the Speakers:
Mimi Hoang co-founded nARCHITECTS with Eric Bunge with a belief in architecture as an agent of positive change, that connects people and environments in unexpected ways. An ambition to respond to changes in contemporary life while fostering engagement guides her work across civic and private realms. Born in the tropics of Vietnam, she brings a global outlook and an obsession with nature to unite social and environmental resiliency with spatial and material innovation. nARCHITECTS received a National Design Award in Architecture by the Cooper Hewitt Smithsonian Design Museum and an American Academy of Arts and Letters in Architecture Award. Currently an Adjunct Associate Professor at Columbia University, Hoang received her M.Arch from the Harvard Graduate School of Design and her Bachelor of Science from M.I.T. Architectural Record recently recognized her with a Women in Architecture Design Leadership Award.
Sara Jazayeri is Founder and Principal of Studio 360, a New York architecture and interior design firm. Born in Iran and raised in Paris, she earned her Master’s degree in Architecture in France. A mother and architect, Jazayeri believed women should not have to choose between meaningful careers and meaningful lives. In 2007, she founded Studio 360 with an innovative model: a 100% women team built around 100% flexibility. At 50, believing growth has no expiration date, she returned to the classroom to study business management at Columbia University. Since 2020, Jazayeri has served as President of AIA Bronx, becoming the first woman to lead the chapter since 1931. She also teaches at Pratt Institute and The City College of New York. Elevated to the AIA College of Fellows in 2026 for Service to Society, Jazayeri believes success is measured not only by what we build, but by the doors we open for others.
Lissa So is a founding Partner of Marvel with over 25 years of experience. She is driven to build innovative architecture that effortlessly accommodates the user and creates uniquely beautiful spaces. So honed her expertise in theater design renovating St. Ann’s Warehouse, a project that brought multiple awards and prestige to the Marvel office and has led to additional theatrical and cultural work. She recently completed the Lyric Theatre, the new home of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, and has lead the design team for TheatreSquared, a modern regional theatre in the burgeoning cultural hub of Fayetteville, AR. In addition, So spearheaded 1 Clinton, a 36-story residential tower that also houses the new Brooklyn Public Library, as well as the new Northeast Bronx YMCA. This work in the Bronx has led to a collaboration with Phipps Neighborhoods to provide afterschool programs to underserved communities in efforts to promote women and minorities in architecture. So attended Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, where she studied architecture.
