From Architecture to Tech to Entrepreneurship: How Architectural Thinking Shaped My Career

Join us for an engaging conversation with Xinran Ma as he shares his journey from architecture to tech and entrepreneurship. Architecture taught Xinran much more than how to design buildings. It shaped the way he solves problems, thinks systematically, communicates ideas and creates meaningful experiences.
In this talk, he’ll share how he transitioned from architect to product designer in tech and eventually built his own business as a writer, educator and entrepreneur. Along the way, we’ll explore which architectural skills transferred surprisingly well, which new skills he had to develop and how young architects can discover opportunities beyond traditional practice while building a fulfilling and rewarding career.
Speaker bio:
Xinran Ma is an architect turned product designer and entrepreneur helping people elevate their careers with AI.
He is the founder and author of Design with AI, speaker, and award-winning designer. Design with AI is one of the fastest-growing AI communities with over 40K subscribers from companies like Google, Amazon, Microsoft, and McKinsey.
One of his talks on AI-powered design prototyping had over 7K signups, and he teaches a popular online course AI for Product Designers with over 400 alumni.
He regularly delivers lectures and leads AI workshops and corporate training for organizations including Microsoft, Columbia Business School, UXPA, the City of Vancouver, Workday, Etsy, and Pratt Institute.
Xinran has also written three Amazon #1 New Release books in UX.
