The event will feature architects and others in the design field that have dedicated a large part of their professional lives to ensuring neighborhood concerns are heard. We envision this event as a celebration of alternative roles by architects and allied designers that have had lasting positive impact on the city. The event will include presentations by invited speakers who will explain the importance of community engagement in their work. A moderated panel discussion followed by questions and answers with the audience will conclude the event.

Cities are shaped by the people who live and thrive within them. However, too often community concerns are overlooked and under-represented. The speakers tonight present effective and important ways that architects and designers can work toward achieving a place at the decision-making table for neighborhood voices.

Speakers:
Nandini Bagchee, RA, Bagchee Architects, Associate Professor CCNY
Andrea Chiney, Arianne Deane and Ashely Kuo, Founders A+A+A
