This year marks the 50th anniversary of the Uniform Land Use Review Procedure, known as ULURP, New York City’s public process for reviewing major land use decisions. With the current housing crisis, high cost of living, climate change threats, COVID-19 recovery, and increasing economic uncertainty, New York is a very different place than it was in 1975.

Given the critical role ULURP plays in affecting city development, The Municipal Art Society of New York (MAS), American Institute of Architects New York Chapter (AIANY), and The American Planning Association's New York Metro Chapter (APA-NYM) have teamed for an important discussion on the effectiveness of ULURP in today’s land use and planning environment.

Speakers:
Tom Angotti, Professor Emeritus of Urban Policy and Planning, Hunter College
Vivien Krieger, Co-Chair, Zoning, Land Use and Development, Cozen O’Connor
Angel Mescain, District Manager, Manhattan Community Board 11

Moderator:
Tom Devaney, Senior Director of Land Use and Planning, The Municipal Art Society of New York
