Join the AIANY Historic Buildings Committee for a tour of The Players, a private club on Gramercy Park and a designated New York City Landmark designed by Stanford White. In 1888, the building was purchased by Edwin Booth, one of the greatest American actors of the 19th century. He transformed the townhouse into a club for actors and patrons of the arts, commissioning White to renovate the space. The result is a distinctive blend of residential warmth and institutional grandeur, creating a true cultural retreat. Our tour will include a visit to Booth’s preserved bedroom—maintained exactly as it was on the day he passed away there in 1893—offering a rare glimpse of a 19th-century home interior.
