Katie Swenson, Senior Principal, MASS Design Group
A nationally acclaimed design leader, researcher, and educator, Katie Swenson is dedicated to leveraging design to promote social equity, environmental sustainability, and community well-being. Her extensive work encompasses sustainable community development and affordable housing. Katie is the author of Design with Love: At Home in America and In Bohemia: A Memoir of Love, Loss, and Kindness, as well as the co-author of Growing Urban Habitats: Seeking a Housing Development Model.
A recipient of the 2019 Loeb Fellowship at the Harvard Graduate School of Design and the 2021 AIA Public Architecture Award, Katie teaches at Columbia GSAPP and the New School Parsons School of Design and lectures globally. As a leader at MASS Design Group, she is reshaping how architecture contributes to healthier, more just, and resilient communities.
