This presentation by The Municipal Engineers of the City of New York (MENY) will review the NYC Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) Green Infrastructure Assets, including their elements, design, function, and specifications. The lecture will demonstrate why we need green infrastructure and how it responds to and helps New York City become a sustainable and climate change-ready city.

About the Speaker:

Sofía Zuberbühler-Yafar is a registered Landscape Architect with a Master’s in Urban Design and over 24 years of varied experience with the planning, design and construction management of public/private built environment projects. As the Assistant Commissioner of Sustainability and Urban Design at the NYC Department of Design and Construction, she leads the Infrastructure Division’s integration of climate readiness, sustainability, resiliency, and equity. Zuberbühler-Yafar oversees the agency’s multimillion-dollar green infrastructure and cloudburst management capital design contracts. She serves on the Envision Review Board with the Institute for Sustainable Infrastructure and contributes to several NYC sustainability task forces.
