The Center for Architecture is pleased to host a round-table discussion celebrating the book launch of Pedagogical Experiments in Architecture for a Changing Climate (Routledge, 2024) edited by Tülay Atak, Luis Callejas, Jonathan A. Scelsa, and Jørgen Johan Tandberg. This publication presents a series of academic curricular experiments that research climate science into the architectural curriculum. The book, written by architectural educators across twenty national and international schools of architecture, features teaching experiments presented across four sections: Abstraction, Organization, Building, and Narrative, exposing core parts of the education of an architect through pedagogies that provide fundamental skills and constructive literacy while simultaneously instigating environmental sensibilities.

The roundtable event and book launch, sponsored by the Pratt School of Architecture, will bring together ten voices among the editors and contributors of the book to discuss the pedagogical balance between science and speculation while also interrogating architectural design education’s agency in the face of climate uncertainty.
