Join the Cross-Learning Alliance as we bring architects, landscape architects, engineers, urban planners, and allied AEC professionals together for an evening of design proposals, friendly competition, networking, and fun. Flex those creative muscles and come shape NYC in a way that you’re passionate about!
Emerging professionals from diverse AEC backgrounds will be divided into multidisciplinary teams to take on a New York City site with a real-world RFP, and apply creative, collaborative thinking to develop proposals that take into consideration issues of design, urbanism, sustainability, equity, and more. Throughout the evening’s charrette, teams will be periodically visited by guest mentors, composed of seasoned professionals from government, private development, academia, design, and engineering, who will provide feedback, answer questions, and give professional support.
All teams will present their final proposals to the mentors as well as the competing teams in an open critique, inviting friendly discussion about the ideas presented, and will receive feedback on not only feasibility and quality, but also how the scheme fits into the wider discussions happening within the industry. The evening will culminate in a mini-social with networking opportunities.
About the Cross-Learning Alliance
The Cross-Learning Alliance is a collaboration between AIA New York, Urban Green Council, the New York Chapter of ASHRAE, and New York Passive House. Collaboration between design, engineering, and construction professionals is key to successfully designing and maintaining high-performance buildings. The Cross-Learning Alliance unites NYC’s leading building experts to bring cutting-edge programming to the building industry. Alliance events are designed to bridge the gaps between the people that own, design, build, manage, operate and commission buildings.
