ABC Stone will host the critically acclaimed photographic exhibition The Landscape Architecture Legacy of Dan Kiley, organized and curated by The Cultural Landscape Foundation (TCLF) and on view January 18–April 30, 2024 at The Exhibition Space at ABC Stone (189 Banker Street, Brooklyn, NY, 11222). The exhibition is free and open by appointment (Monday–Friday, between 9 AM–4 PM).

An opening reception will be held on January 18 and will include a conversation between Charles A. Birnbaum, TCLF’s President and CEO and the exhibition’s co-curator, and Raymond Jungles. Using Jungles' work at the Ford Foundation Atrium as a case study, the two will discuss the history and design of Kiley's robust body of work, the challenges surrounding being a steward of his work, and the ongoing efforts to honor Kiley's legacy. Dan Kiley (1912-2004) was one of the nation’s most important postwar landscape architects, and the exhibition features 45 newly commissioned photographs. The work on view spans 27 of Kiley’s more than 1,000 designs including: the Miller House and Garden, Columbus, IN; the Art Institute of Chicago South Garden, Chicago, IL; and one of his final residential projects, Patterns, a garden for Gov. and Mrs. Pierre S. “Pete” du Pont IV in Delaware. The exhibition also includes recently commissioned photographs of the Ford Foundation Atrium, the recent and widely hailed rehabilitation of which was overseen by the landscape architect Raymond Jungles.

Please note: the evening will begin at 234 Banker Street for refreshments and the discussion, then continue to 189 Banker Street to view the exhibition.
