Please join The Municipal Engineers of the City of New York for their annual Wimmer Memorial Lecture featuring Shaan Mavani. As the Chief Asset and Capital Management Officer, Mavani leads the new Asset and Capital Management Division (ACMD), which integrates and aligns the Authority’s existing development, modernization, and asset management work. ACMD will bring comprehensive repairs to NYCHA buildings and apartments through cost-effective project delivery and management. The Division will also position NYCHA’s housing portfolio for the future by incorporating innovative building materials, construction methods, and technology.

The reception will begin at 5:30pm followed by the lecture at 6:00pm.

About the Speaker:
Shaan Mavani was appointed NYCHA’s first-ever Chief Asset & Capital Management Officer in January 2022. Shaan was previously the Senior Advisor for Special Projects in NYCHA’s Office of the Chair, most recently leading the design and setup of the Comprehensive Modernization Program. Before joining NYCHA, he served in a variety of leadership roles internationally with the United Nations, the Boston Consulting Group, and the Royal Bank of Scotland Group, amongst other organizations, including as Senior Director & Senior Advisor to the CEO at the Ethiopian Agricultural Transformation Agency. Mavani's experience includes building out new teams in government and international agencies, implementing large-scale organizational transformation, and leading major projects and programs. He's earned a Master of Public Administration at Harvard University’s John F. Kennedy School of Government (where he focused on housing and urban economic development), a Master of Arts in international studies (focused on comparative economic development) from Tokyo University of Foreign Studies, and a Bachelor of Arts in mathematics from the University of California at Berkeley.

As Chief Asset & Capital Management Officer, Mavani leads the new Asset & Capital Management Division (ACMD), which integrates and aligns the Authority’s existing development, modernization, and asset management work being carried out by the Real Estate Development, Capital Projects, and Comprehensive Modernization teams. ACMD will bring comprehensive repairs to NYCHA buildings and apartments through strong partnership with residents and other stakeholders; strategic, data-driven portfolio planning; and cost-effective project delivery and management.
