AIANY WIA is pleased to invite and introduce Nontraditional Employment for Women | NEW to our members and have the opportunity to discuss after our monthly committee announcements how we can collaborate on advancing women in the trades and the AEC industry in general. Representing NEW are members of NEW’s Ambassador Council, NEW staff, and tradeswomen who have graduated from NEW’s training program and are working in the field.

Nontraditional Employment for Women’s (NEW) mission and goal is to prepare, train, and place women in careers in the skilled construction, utility, and maintenance trades, helping women achieve economic independence and a secure future for themselves and their families. NEW also provides a pipeline of qualified workers to the industries that build, move, power, green, and maintain New York.

The committees of AIA New York are the foundations from which the Chapter positions itself in the field of architecture, whether through discussion, advocacy, policy making and development, event and exhibition planning, or other endeavors.

Committees meet monthly, usually at the Center for Architecture. AIA members, AIA associate members, and general public are all welcome to participate.
