Please join us for a screening of The Dreams of Others, the documentary film produced by ArquinFAD and Nihao Films, directed by Xavi Campreciós and Pep Martin. The film presents a critical look at the evolution of Spanish architecture in the last 60 years and features the participation of Carme Pinós, RCR Arquitectes, Luis Fernández Galiano, and Pau de Sola Morales, among others. Through telling this story about the last six decades of Spanish architecture and interior design, the film presents a critical reflection on the role of architecture and architects in society, how the figure of the architect has evolved, and where it might be headed in the future.

The screening will be followed by a moderated conversation and audience Q&A.

About the Speakers:
Pau de Solà-Morales
holds a degree in architecture and urban planning from the ETSAB and a master's degree and PhD from the GSD, Harvard University. His interests revolve around design and creativity and the application of information technologies in architecture and design. He has been a visiting professor at the GSD and at the Accademia di Architettura at the Università della Svizzera Italiana. From 2006 to 2019 he was professor of representation techniques and theory of architecture at the ETSA-URV in Reus where he also served as Head of Studies and Director. He was Director of EINA Center for Design and Art in Barcelona from 2019 to 2022, and currently he is the Secretary of the FAD and professor at ETSA-URV in Reus.

Carme Pigem studied at the School of Fine Arts in Olot and graduated from the ETSAV with a degree in architecture. In 1987 she founded the studio RCR Arquitectes together with Ramón Vilalta and Rafael Aranda in Olot. Their work has been widely published and exhibited and they are Honorary Fellows of the AIA, International Fellows of the RIBA and the recipients of the Catalan National Award for Architecture and the Gold Medal of the French Académie d’Architecture. In 2017 they were awarded the Pritzker Prize. She has taught at both the ETSAV in Vallès and the ETSAB in Barcelona as well as the ETH in Zurich. Since 2008 RCR has organized an international interdisciplinary summer workshop in their studio and in the 2013 they established RCR BUNKA Foundation to support architecture, landscape, arts, and culture.

Xavi Campreciós is a documentary filmmaker and producer. He graduated from the Film and Audiovisual School of Catalunya (ESCAC) and in 2012 he cofounded with Pep Martín the production company Nihao Films in Barcelona. His works include the documentaries Mies on Scene (2018), The Dreams of Others (2019) and a series of architecture documentaries in collaboration with the Mies van der Rohe Foundation: European Identity (2016), The Jury's Cut (2017), Starting Conversations (2019) and Built Skin (2022). Since 2020 they have been producing the documentaries for the FAD Awards for Architecture and Interior Design. In 2021, Nihao Films founded the BARQ, the Barcelona International Architecture Film Festival.

Gregory Haley is a New York based architect and urban designer and an Associate Principal with Henning Larsen. His work focuses on engagement with the public realm through civic, mixed-use, and urban design projects. Previously, he worked with Grimshaw, Polshek partnership (now Ennead), Rafael Vinoly and Deborah Berke. Additionally, he is an adjunct assistant professor at New York City College of Technology, CUNY.  He is the member of the Harvard GSD Alumni Council, President of the Harvard Alumni Architectural & Urban Society (HAAUS), and a co-chair of the AIANY Global Dialogues committee.
