R & Company’s Tribeca Gallery

To celebrate design excellence in the AIA New York community, the AIANY Custom Residential Architects Network invites you to a reception, design conversation, and tour of R & Company’s Tribeca gallery located at 64 White Street. Designers will meet designers, emerging professionals will meet business owners, furniture designers, artists, collectors, and curators to hear different points of views from diverse sectors of the art community and design industries. Evan Snyderman and Zesty Meyers, R & Company’s co-founders, will lead a gallery tour focusing on their collection of furniture, objects, and print materials—approximately 4,000 books, journals, magazines, and other ephemera on design from 1900 to the present. They will discuss R & Company’s focus on design history through a visit to their library and archives, plus lead a private viewing of pieces from the Greta Magnusson-Grossman estate and of the two current exhibitions. The evening will also feature a conversation about how to incorporate a client’s collection in residential architecture plans and identify or commission works for site-specific installations.

Zesty Meyers is the founder of R & Company, one of the most prominent and groundbreaking design galleries in the world. Through research, exhibitions and publications, R & Company has resurrected interest in now-iconic designers including Verner Panton, Wendell Castle, Greta Magnusson Grossman, Joaquim Tenreiro, and Sergio Rodrigues, to name a few. In 2016, Meyers contributed to the publication Brazil Modern: The Rediscovery of Twentieth-Century Brazilian Furniture, the first internationally available inquiry into that country’s richly significant design history.

Evan Snyderman has contributed to multiple publications since 2000 including titles on designers Wendell Castle, Cees Braakman, Greta Magnusson Grossman, Poul Kjaerholm, Renate Müller, Verner Panton, Ilmari Tapiovaara, Jeff Zimmerman, and David Wiseman. His curatorial debut was the touring exhibition Greta Magnusson Grossman: A Car and Some Shorts, which opened at the Arkitekturmuseet in Stockholm, Sweden in February 2010 and traveled to the Price Tower Art Center, Oklahoma, and the Pasadena Museum of California Art in 2012.

Fernanda Ximenez is the Interiors Director of Lang Architecture and member of Brick & Wonder, a community of real estate and design leaders focused on transformative relationships and professional growth.

Mark Jupiter is a furniture designer and founding member of Brick & Wonder. From an early career in sustainable prefabricated home design and construction, Jupiter has built his eponymous furniture brand from a small shop on the DUMBO waterfront into one of the premier design build companies in New York City.
