As an industry, we struggle with retaining talent, as higher education debts after graduating force many promising designers out of our professions. Investing in these bright young people while still in school can make a difference between them and build a career in our field. In 2022, the Center for Architecture provided scholarships to two outstanding, high-achieving Black female architecture students, Kelsey Jackson and Cheriyah Wilmot.

To celebrate Black History Month, AIANY WIA Committee is honored to host “In Dialogue With….” Kelsey Jackson and Cheriyah Wilmot on Building Future Pathways. After our monthly committee announcements, they will share their stories about why they wanted to become architects, how they can encourage our profession to be more inclusive, and what their goals and ambitions are after graduation.
