The proliferation of electric vehicles (EVs) requires an equally rapid deployment of EV infrastructure–namely battery charging stations. In this program, we will briefly review the need for EVs and chargers including the scale of the effort and potential barriers. We will learn the capability of the three types of EV charging stations and how to select and site them in an urban environment. We will review the approvals process and building codes that apply including parking regulations. And we will view potential solutions through the lens of equity and affordability. Finally, we will be presented with a creative, equitable plan to access charging stations.
