In 2022, City Harvest, the first and largest food rescue organization in New York City, moved its food rescue and delivery operations to Sunset Park, Brooklyn. Working with Ennead Architects and Rockwell Group, the organization has renovated a historic building that first served as a car house for the Brooklyn Heights Railroad, creating a light-filled, modern space that will enable City Harvest to sustain its work above pre-pandemic levels to serve the millions of New Yorkers who are experiencing food insecurity. The organization has also worked with locally based artists to create custom art within the space, reflecting the diversity of the communities City Harvest serves. Rockwell Group was tapped to design a modern demonstration kitchen and event space within the historic building, which also features a state-of-the-art warehouse center and expanded offices designed by Ennead Architects.
