The committees of AIA New York are the foundations from which the Chapter positions itself in the field of architecture, whether through discussion, advocacy, policy making and development, event and exhibition planning, or other endeavors.

Committees meet monthly, usually at the Center for Architecture. AIA members, AIA associate members, and general public are all welcome to participate. Register here.

Douglas Carney, AIA, MBA, System Senior Vice President – Real Estate & Facilities, Chief Facilities Officer, Mount Sinai Health System/Icahn School of Medicine.

About the Speaker:
Douglas Carney, AIA, MBA, is a Registered Architect and the Health System Senior Vice President for Real Estate, Planning, Design, Construction and Engineering at the Mount Sinai Health System and Icahn School of Medicine. Carney held a similar position at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston and, previously, at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP). Carney served as a non-voting member of the CHOP Trustees Finance and Capital Program Committee and Buildings and Grounds sub-committee. Under Carney, Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia completed over $2 billion of in place construction and started nearly $4 billion in activity following the Comprehensive Facilities Master Plan of 2019, which Carney led to provide a roadmap for building scale and expanding the CHOP integrated care network infrastructure.

Carney has significant Operating Leadership, Design & Capital Program Management and Construction Project Consulting experience and has held a Clinical Professor faculty appointment to Drexel University in Philadelphia since 2004, teaching Real Estate Development, Materials & Construction Management. Carney has also lectured at Baruch University in the Masters of Healthcare Administration.
