Dear Friends of the AIANY Women in Architecture Committee,

We have a special event planned with our regularly scheduled monthly Committee Meeting on June 15 from 6:30 pm – 8:00 pm.

After brief announcements of the WIA Upcoming Events & Programs, Around Town & Related Events, and Topics & Good Reads, we will host a Foreign Architects Forum. We have invited a few foreign architects to share about their experiences of working and/or starting a practice in the US. Some topics we may discuss include:

  • Why did you come to New York?
  • Is New York a better place for opportunities?
  • How did you get started?
  • How is it different working in New York than in your home country?
  • What are the challenges working here? How are you navigating these challenges?
  • What are you contributing to your clients and the built environment?
  • How does your foreign background inform how you approach architecture, design and/or advocacy?

We will then have an open dialogue amongst the attendees. Since New York is such a melting pot, there will be issues that everyone can relate to and we hope to foster an engaging conversation and gain unique insights from a foreign architect’s perspective. We invite you to join us at this special forum to listen, share, and inspire!

If you would like to join us virtually, please email Suzanne Mecs at smecs@aiany.org for the Zoom link.

We look forward to seeing you on June 15 and thank you in advance for your participation and support!
