Join us for a lecture by Yung Ho Chang, where the architect will discuss building issues in architecture, such as form, space, and tectonics, as well as issues beyond the physical building, including social and educational concerns.

Educated both in China and in the US, Yung Ho Chang received a Master of Architecture degree from the University of California, Berkeley in 1984. Since 1992, he has been practicing in China, where he established Atelier Feichang Jianzhu (FCJZ) with Lijia Lu in 1993. He has won several prizes and recognitions, including first place in the Shinkenchiku Residential Design Competition in 1986, a Progressive Architecture Citation Award in 1996, the 2000 UNESCO Prize for the Promotion of the Arts, the Academy Award in Architecture from the American Academy of Arts and Letters in 2006, the 2016 China Architecture Media Award Excellence in Practice Prize, and Honorary Membership of AIA Hong Kong. FCJZ has also been recognized as one of the 100+ Best Architecture Firms of 2019 by Domus magazine. Their project, Jishou Art Museum, was a winner of the AIA 2020 Architecture Awards and was recognized as ArchDaily’s China Building of the Year in 2020. Chang has published a number of books and monographs and participated in many international exhibitions of art and architecture, including six times in the Venice Biennale since 2000. He has taught at various architecture schools in the USA and China and served as Professor and Founding Head of the Graduate Center of Architecture at Peking University from 1999 to 2005. Between 2005 and 2010, he headed the Architecture Department at MIT. Chang was also a Pritzker Prize jury member from 2012 to 2017.
