Who Cares About Energy Codes? Architect’s Guide to NYC’s Carbon Reduction Code

Join AIA New York and the Building Energy Exchange for the launch of the BE-Ex Architect Advisory Council’s (AAC) 2020 vision document, Who Cares About Energy Codes? The Architect’s Guide to New York City’s Aggressive Carbon Reduction Code. Industry leaders will discuss how the building design and construction industry must adapt to meaningfully address the climate crisis.

New York’s forthcoming predicted energy use code (Local Law 32 of 2018), as well as the groundbreaking building carbon emission limits of 2019’s Local Law 97, will require fundamental changes to how we design, operate, and construct our buildings. The Building Energy Exchange convened leading architects, engineers, and organizational representatives to determine key areas of climate action for the practice of architecture and the design and construction process.

Join us for a presentation of BE-Ex AAC’s recommendations on how the profession can meet the challenge of these new laws and deliver on the promise of high-performing buildings, leading the path forward to a cleaner and healthier city. A networking reception will follow the panel discussion, with light refreshments included.

This is a hybrid in-person/online event. Space is limited. If joining in-person, you will be asked upon entry to show your in-person ticket and proof of either full COVID-19 vaccination (via Excelsior Pass or other proof of vaccination) or a negative COVID-19 test result from at most four days prior to the event. Virtual attendance to this event is also available; you may choose to join and participate via Zoom webinar.
