This course provides an overview of the technical and functional features of woven wire mesh and illustrates how its aesthetic qualities offer fascinating architectural solutions for interior and exterior designs.

Learning Objectives: After completion of this course, participants will be able to understand the following:

  • Identify various types of mesh and examine the architectural applications they are best suited for, including facades and ceilings, as well as interior and exterior spaces.
  • Discuss the benefits of woven wire mesh environmental and safety systems, including fall protection, climate control, and reduced energy costs.
  • Examine the applications of woven wire mesh that can improve a building’s level of sustainability and safety.
  • Explore the significance of properly installing mesh and effective mounting solutions.
  • Discuss the functional and environmental values of woven wire mesh in terms of reduced waste onsite, recyclability, and durability.

Wendy DeCapite has been with W.S. Tyler for 20 years. Beginning her career as a Customer Service Representative in the Laboratory Equipment industry, she was quickly promoted to startup W.S. Tyler’s architectural design wire cloth department. For the past 17 years, DeCapite has been working to introduce the architectural community to this exciting ornamental option.
