Conceived of and moderated by Donald Albrecht and Thomas Mellins, curators of the Tidal Basin Ideas Lab exhibition, this evening program is the third in a series of conversations about the changing nature of public space and the complexities of its preservation. This session will focus on issues regarding the Tidal Basin’s many memorials—including those to Thomas Jefferson, Franklin Delano Roosevelt, and Martin Luther King, Jr.—and the contested histories they embody. The curators will be joined by:

• Justin Garrett Moore, Program Officer, Humanities in Place, The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation
• Marcel Acosta, Executive Director, National Capital Planning Commission
• Teresa Durkin, Executive Vice President, Trust for the National Mall
• Host: Seri Worden, Senior Field Director, National Trust for Historic Preservation

This webinar is in partnership with the Trust for the National Mall.
