Michelangelo Sabatino, Director of the Illinois Institute of Technology Ph.D. Program in Architecture, and Susan Benjamin, Architectural Historian and Preservationist, have co-authored the new book Modern in the Middle: Chicago Houses 1929-1975 from Monacelli Press, which analyzes the significance of modern residential architecture through case studies of both well known and obscure modern homes in and around Chicago. Sabatino and Benjamin will discuss the research that went into producing this book. Theodore Prudon, FAIA, will discuss the unique challenges of preserving modern architecture. Reed Kroloff, Dean of the Illinois Institute of Technology’s College of Architecture, will introduce the speakers.
