Together, for the first time, two lions of New York City history, Russell Shorto (Island at the Center of the World) and Barry Lewis, Cooper Union lecturer and architectural historian (iconic PBS series on New York neighborhoods) will trade observations about how our democratic institutions, rule of law, hyphenated nationality, entrepreneurial spirit, multiculturalism, and vocabulary are indebted to our Dutch origins.

Dr. Robert Snyder (Rutgers-Newark) recently appointed Manhattan Borough Historian, will moderate the lively discussion of how, in just 40 years of rule, 1624-1664, the Dutch set NYC’s DNA. Conversation will be pre-recorded with a Live Q+A to follow.
