Join AIA New York, New York State Energy Research & Development Authority (NYSERDA), and Magnusson Architecture and Planning (MAP) for a presentation of three award-winning Buildings of Excellence projects. The innovative Linden Boulevard Phase II, Rheingold Senior Housing, and 2050 Grand Concourse projects—all new construction—will be highlighted. Each of these high-rise residential buildings are comprised of affordable-housing units; employ advanced technologies; are pursuing LEED, PHIUS, and Enterprise Green Community certification; and are located in either Brooklyn or the Bronx. The three projects embody the goals of the Buildings of Excellence Competition by being low-carbon emitting, replicable, comfortable for occupants, and connected to the surrounding communities. Presentations will be followed by a Q&A session.

Opening Remarks:
Zachary Zill, Project Manager, New Construction Program, NYSERDA

Speakers:
Sara Bayer, AIA, CPHC, LEED AP, Director of Sustainability, Associate Principal, Magnusson Architecture and Planning
Kami Altman, AIA, Senior Associate, Magnusson Architecture and Planning
Rachel Simpson, AIA, Senior Associate, Magnusson Architecture and Planning

The Buildings of Excellence competition, administered by The New York State Energy Research & Development Authority (NYSERDA), was launched in early 2019. The $40 million, three-round competition, recognizes and rewards the design, construction, and operation of very low or zero carbon emitting multifamily buildings. Prizes of up to $1 million are awarded to projects in either the early or late design phases. The portfolio of winners exemplifies the competition’s mission to bring low to zero carbon buildings to scale in New York State.
