AIANY Custom Residential Architects Network is hosting their 2019 Fall House Party at Olnick Spanu House, designed by Alberto Campo Baeza. A tour of the home and landscape will be followed by a roundtable discussion on the opportunities and challenges offered to architects who are commissioned to design custom homes in culturally significant landscapes, such as the Hudson River Valley.

Co-Moderators:

Alan Barlis, FAIA, Principal of BarlisWedlick Architects, a multi-discipline design and architecture firm with offices in New York City and Hudson, New York. In 2018, Barlis was elevated to the AIA College of Fellows in recognition for his research, development, and design of high-performance, Passive House structures. Barlis teaches high-performance architecture and construction technology at The City College of New York, Bernard & Anne Spitzer School of Architecture.

Miguel Quismondo, AIA, Founder, MQ Architecture of New York City, New York. Spanish-born architect, Miguel Quismondo was the associate architect to Alberto Campo Baeza for the design and construction of the Olnick Spanu House. Quismondo’s architecture has been published in la Biennale di Venezia, Architectural Record, A+U, Domus and Casabella, among other design journals. He holds a Master’s degree in Real Estate Development from Columbia University, and another in Construction Management from NYU.
