In honor of the 50th Anniversaries of both the Stonewall Uprising and the Greenwich Village Historic District, this special evening will celebrate LGBTQ lives and histories amidst the built environment.

Join the groundbreaking NYC LGBT Historic Sites Project for a selected presentation of built sites of LGBTQ history. The talk will reveal the significance behind facades and public spaces that we see and pass daily, adding an essential layer to the map of NYC. Following the presentation, join us for an interactive MappyHour reception to overlay this existing cartography with new revelations and personal histories.

NYC LGBT Historic Sites Project is a scholarly initiative and educational resource that officially began in August 2015 and is based on over 25 years of research and advocacy. Through an interactive map, the project helps to document historic and cultural sites associated with the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender community in the five boroughs. Their remarkable work is setting precedents across the country by diversifying and demystifying the surroundings we have known all along. Learn more about the project here.
