Architect Karen Braitmayer, FAIA, has been named the 2019 recipient of the prestigious AIA Whitney M. Young Jr Award. The Seattle-based architect has been recognized by the Institute for her contributions to promote inclusive, universal, and accessible design in architecture.

Join us for this celebratory event, where Braitmeyer will present her work, advocacy and views on successful accessible design, fresh off receiving her award at the National AIA conference in Las Vegas. The presentation will include Braitmayer’s own home, chosen as one of three inaugural projects in the “Accessibility is Beautiful” initiative to be launched that evening by the Cerebral Palsy Foundation.

Following the presentation, a panel of accessibility advocates will respond to Braitmayer’s work and discuss the newest directions in accessible design.
