This is a related program for the exhibition The Future of the New York Metropolitan Area: The Fourth Regional Plan.

RPA’s Fourth Regional Plan proposes how our built and natural environments should change and adapt to address a set of unprecedented challenges over the next generation: sea levels may rise as much as six feet by mid-century, changing our coastline forever; new forms of mobility, such as self-driving vehicles, will change the way we think about streets; infrastructure investments such as new rail lines will need to not only link destinations but create new open spaces and  mixed-use live/work neighborhoods. This panel will explore the ways that architecture, landscape architecture and urban design can address these challenges and the role of design at the regional scale.

Speakers:
Adam Frampton, AIA, Principal, Only.If
Juliette Michaelson, Executive Vice President RPA
Kobi Ruthenberg, Associate Director in Urbanism, ORG Permanent Modernity

Moderator:
Robert Lane, RPA Senior Fellow for Urban Design
