About the film:

UNKNOWN NEW YORK – THE CITY THAT WOMEN BUILT is Beverly Willis’, FAIA, fifth film to be released over the last 8 years. The film rights the wrong of the history of architecture being written with women under-represented or unrepresented. UNKNOWN NEW YORK will introduce and celebrate the women of Gotham who have played integral roles in the creation of our built environment. The work of female architects, builders, engineers, their clients and the impact it has had on our city will be chronicled. It is the Beverly Willis Architecture Foundation’s hope that once the film is completed, young women (and men!) will be encouraged by these creative women and inspired to join in re-writing the history books to include a broader narrative, and even to become architects themselves.
