Cultural Hubs: Destination Airports
As travelers spend more time at airports, they expect more conveniences and greater consistency and quality in amenities to enhance their experience. In order to match the needs of these frequent flyers, terminals now feature high-end retail, fine dining, entertainment, and, increasingly, cultural amenities. Panelists will explore how airports balance increased security with easy access; how these interstitial cultural experiences are funded, curated, and implemented; how global cities use public art to reflect local culture and acclimate international travelers; and how airports, both new and retrofit, are becoming a great “third place” between home and the office.
