Join the AIANY Building Enclosure Council for a discussion about the basics of energy flows in a building, which flows are important to measure, and how to measure them. Led by Henry Gifford of Chris Benedict, RA, attendees will learn how energy flows are related to occupant comfort, building durability, and energy-efficient performance.

Gifford will cover the basics of energy, from clearing up confusion over rates versus quantities to describing how energy enters and leaves a building. He will also go over which energy flows can be measured, what instruments to use for these measurements, what they cost, and how to use them. The discussion will enable attendees to make informed decisions.

Speaker: Henry Gifford, Mechanical System Designer, Chris Benedict, RA

Henry Gifford grew up solving energy-related problems with buildings. As a long-time building owner, mechanical contractor, and expert designer, Gifford understands the different perspectives of a good, energy-efficient solution. He has a deep understanding of and respect for the physics and science behind building systems. This strong foundational knowledge, in combination with his practical experience, enables him to create systems that measurably save energy and money. Gifford is a designer of mechanical systems at the award-winning, energy efficiency-focused architecture firm of Chris Benedict, RA.
