This course explores ways that architectural woven wire mesh can be utilized in the design of parking structures to overcome challenges such as fall protection. Wire mesh can also enhance sustainability goals by providing sun and weather protection, reducing energy cost and eliminating waste.

Learning Objectives: After completion of this course, participants will be able to understand the following:

  • Identify various types of mesh and examine the architectural applications for which they are best suited.
  • Review projects and applications where wire mesh has been used to overcome architectural challenges.
  • Examine the ways in which wire mesh acts as a sustainable choice, including sun protection and eliminating waste.
  • Explore the significance of properly installing mesh and effective mounting solutions.
  • Discuss the functional and environmental values of woven wire mesh in terms of fall protection, recyclability, and durability.

Wendy DeCapite has been with W.S. Tyler for 20 successful years. Beginning her career as a Customer Service Representative in the Laboratory Equipment industry, she was quickly promoted to startup W.S. Tyler’s architectural design wire cloth department. For the past 17 years, DeCapite has been working hard to educate and introduce the architectural community to this exciting ornamental option.
