8:45-9:30 AM – Keynote: Parks as Infrastructure and Transportation – Claire Weisz, FAIA, Founding Principal of WXY Claire Weisz, FAIA, will present her research into why it is not enough for parks to exist as single-use islands of tranquility. Today’s parks need to do much more: build infrastructure, provide connectivity, and increase resilience—as well as offer urbanites of all ages and abilities the opportunity to exercise. Given the state of public health, a park system should no longer be considered an amenity any more than transportation and infrastructure are. Q&A to follow.

9:30-10:00 AM – New Pathways in Urban Mobility – Jack Robbins, AIA, LEED AP, Principal, Director of Urban Design at FXCollaborative Architects LLP Jack Robbins, AIA, LEED AP, will discuss current trends and the importance of pedestrian circulation in a world where urban mobility is radically changing.

10:30-11:30 AM – Panel Discussion – The jury of the Metals in Construction magazine 2019 Design Challenge will discuss the winner and finalists of the competition:

11:30-12:00 PM – Awarding the grand prize for the Metals in Construction 2019 Design Challenge In the culminating event of its 2019 design challenge, Metals in Construction magazine will announce the decision it reached, with the support of the jury, regarding the award of the grand prize. The jury and the moderator will remain onstage to present the awards to the finalists and grand prize winner and respond to questions from the audience.
