Bronx River Art Center

Built as part of the Design Excellence Initiative with the NYC Department of Design and Construction, the NYC Department of Cultural Affairs, and the NYC Public Design Commission, the Bronx River Art Center is dedicated to bringing cultural education and professional arts programming to a diverse and underserved public in the South Bronx.

The Bronx River Art Center borders the newly reclaimed Bronx River Greenway, and features a super-graphic facade that advertises the center to the public and to passing aboveground subways lines. Sage and Coombe designed the new center within its existing shell, providing new public galleries, classrooms, and offices, and integrating it with its setting along the Bronx River.
