Part of the lecture series, “AEC Industry Experiences from COVID-19: What We Did | What We Are Doing | What We Need To Do” which is addressing past, current and future initiatives, constraints and budgets. This series is being organized to identify how best to restructure our operations and how to design, construct, and manage buildings, infrastructure, and civic spaces, emphasizing social impact, sustainability, resilience, and public health, in addition to cost, schedule, quality, and safety. The goal of discussion is candid analyses of how the capital program, for both essential buildings and necessary infrastructure, has changed and might change more as we all adapt to a world turned upside down by new needs and new perspectives.

Amid this ongoing health crisis, we cannot lose sight of our looming climate crisis and the impacts it will cause to public health and well-being.  Instead, we can choose to emerge stronger and more resilient from this crisis with a green recovery that prioritizes clean energy infrastructure, job creation, and environmental justice.  Investing in clean energy and resilient infrastructure over the next decade would spur our nation’s economy, and create enormous numbers of good-paying and accessible jobs, at just the right moment to align with the scientific demands of our climate crisis and the needs of an American economy that is suffering its worst unemployment since the Great Depression.

Speaker:Daniel Zarrilli, Chief Climate Policy Advisor and OneNYC Director, NYC Office of the Mayor
