The Paul Rudolph Heritage Foundation is pleased to announce our ‘SpaceMaker Salon Series’ to continue a tradition that grew from Paul Rudolph’s desire to encourage debates about important issues surrounding modern architecture.

Our salon will be led by Ashley Simone.

[Re]presenting Tarará reconstructs an architectural suburban genealogy by examining the unique history, transformation, and current eerie and surrealistic character of Tarará, a residential community built in the 1940s for upper-middle-class Cubans. Following the Cuban Revolution, Tarará was appropriated, augmented and reprogrammed, many times over, between 1980 and the early 2000s, under the leadership of Fidel Castro. Using architecture as a lens and photography as media, [Re]presenting Tarará documents the results of a socialist economy whose cultural and architectural production was executed in accordance with the tastes of the government and reveals the contemporary condition of a single community as a means to acknowledge the challenges the country faces as it implements free-market policies that seek to affect the transformation of the built environment in Cuba.
Seats for the event are limited, so reserve your place today to ensure your attendance.

Proceeds from this event benefit The Paul Rudolph Heritage Foundation to promote the preservation, knowledge and understanding of the work of architect and educator Paul Rudolph.
