Join us for the premiere of Van Alen Sessions Season Six, a project of Van Alen Institute produced in partnership with The New Yorker.

Season Six visits six border towns in California, Texas, and Mexico to investigate how urban design can increase cross-border collaboration, strengthen social and economic networks in sister cities where the local economies are linked, and mitigate the environmental impact of construction of border walls in delicate ecosystems.

Following the film’s premiere, Stephania Taladrid of The New Yorker will moderate a panel discussion with the filmmaker, Merete Mueller; Steven Alvarez, Associate Professor of English, St. John’s University; and Patricio del Real, Assistant Professor of History of Art and Architecture, Harvard University.

Presented in partnership with SVA MA Design Research, Writing & Criticism, this screening is free and open to the public.

Van Alen Sessions is a short-documentary series highlighting current debates about infrastructure. This season is supported, in part, by the National Endowment for the Arts and the Fledgling Fund.
