The AIANY Women in Architecture Committee (WIA) has a special event planned for their first fall Committee Meeting on September 18.

After a brief announcement of upcoming WIA events and programs, around town and related events, and topics and good reads, Andrea Steele, the Founding Principal of Andrea Steele Architecture (ASA), will join the committee to present her current and new projects while sharing her experience in starting her new firm.

We look forward to seeing you and thank you in advance for your participation and support.

Speaker:
Andrea Steele, AIA,  is the Founding Principal of Andrea Steele Architecture (ASA), a New York-based practice that believes the scale of architecture is not measured by its physical size, but by its positive impact on people, resources, and sense of place.

With over two decades of experience practicing architecture, Steele has led a wide range of complex urban design projects throughout the United States. She served as partner and principal of TEN Arquitectos’ New York office for more than eight years before renaming the studio in 2019. As Andrea Steele Architecture, the studio continues the design rigor and excellence, with a heightened focus on institutional, cultural, and community-oriented projects.

Steele received her Master of Architecture degree from Harvard University’s Graduate School of Design. She has taught at Cornell University, City College of the City University of New York, and the Catholic University of America. Steele lectures widely throughout the United States and is a frequent participant in academic juries. Steele is currently an advisor to both the Urban Design Forum and Pioneer Works.

The committees of AIA New York are the foundations from which the Chapter positions itself in the field of architecture, whether through discussion, advocacy, policy making and development, event and exhibition planning, or other endeavors.

Committees meet monthly, usually at the Center for Architecture. AIA members, AIA associate members, and general public are all welcome to participate.

If you have questions or are considering attending a meeting for the first time, contact each committee’s co-chairs for more information at aiany.org/committees.
