Organized by the AIANY Marketing and Communications Committee, this event is part of the AIANY Summer Practice Series; a summer-long series of weekly programs looking at topics across practice areas with a focus on the challenges of small to medium sized firms. Join us for this morning program at Steelcase where we explore digital marketing strategy, learn how to organize your online presence, as well as understand the content and language for digital media platforms. The event will provide tools and resources to form a network of small firm principals and business consultants who can offer support in building and marketing your business.

Susana Holguin-Veras, Assoc. AIA, LEED AP serves as Principal of Theory, a marketing agency serving the design, architecture, and real estate firms.Originally launched in 2017 and based in downtown Newark, Theory specializes in strategy, branding, communications, social media management, and internal marketing operations. Susana’s more than 10 years of professional experience in architecture, academia, marketing, public relations, and business development inform the vision for Theory – a practice that takes a multidisciplinary approach to managing a client’s public image.

For over 25 years, Nancy Kleppel, Assoc. AIA has consistently delivered real, measurable results for design and construction services firms. Her success stems from persuasively articulating the objective value her clients provide to their own clientele. As a Principal at Nancy Kleppel Consulting she brings clarity and focus to that effort, providing strategy and management advice, client and project development, branding, communications and outreach for design and construction professionals.  

Iva Kravitz, Assoc. AIA, owns a boutique agency that does strategic communications, marketing and public relations with a tight focus on architecture and design. As a values-driven company, The Iva Agency has a special interest in firms working socially and/or environmentally responsibly. Current and past clients include COOKFOX, Guenther 5 Architects/Perkins+Will, Jeffrey Beers International, TPG Architecture and the Landscape Architecture Foundation.

Laura Patel is Director of Strategic Accounts at Density, an analytics platform that uses occupancy sensors to help businesses measure how their spaces are used; eliminating underutilized real estate, delivering exceptional workplace experiences, and strengthening physical security. In line with her work, Laura’s interests lie at the intersection of artificial intelligence and real estate.

DNA President Alexandra Polier is a media and communications expert with more than twenty years of experience. Her early career as a journalist took her from New York to Nairobi, where she worked for the Associated Press, Newsweek, Forbes and Condé Nast Traveler. Over the past ten years, Alex has built an expertise in architecture and real estate, starting as the Director of Communications for Richard Meier & Partners and Dwell Media. Since founding DNA in 2015 she has represented leading architects, technology companies and private investment firms all with a focus on environmentalism and urbanism. She lives in Manhattan with her two sons Lawrence and Avery.

Amy Lim is a trained and experienced architect and has recently ventured into the marketing and business development side of architecture. Much of her digital marketing experience comes from founding and managing her food blog, kimchi MOM, where she also worked with various national brands as an “influencer”. Combining her experience as a designer and as a blogger, she provided social media consulting for small local businesses and organizations before joining Cooper Robertson.
