Smart Building Summit
4/10/19, 8:30am - 4:30pm
Location
Center for Architecture
7 LU / 7 HSW

Join the Cross-Learning Alliance for the Smart Building Summit. This day-long event will convene 22 expert building professionals to investigate how building automation can improve energy performance and tenant wellness. Attendees will leave the sessions with new insight into the design, implementation, and operation of building automation and control systems.

MORNING SESSIONS (3.5 CREDITS)

SESSION 1: KEYNOTE
Steve Friedman | Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center

SESSION 2: DESIGNING FOR EASE OF USE. The concept of a “smart building” has different, sometimes conflicting meanings to stakeholders. Owners and tenants might expect that building systems will be more responsive and user-friendly. However, energy performance requirements might mean that the system is actually less responsive to occupant input. In this session, building owners, users and operators will share their real world experiences to inform the design of future automated systems.

AFTERNOON SESSIONS (3.5 CREDITS)

SESSION 4: LESSONS FROM THE FIELD. These fast-paced presentations will highlight real building automation solutions that participants can implement immediately. Presenters will explain why they implemented automation, what barriers they faced and how they achieved stakeholder buy-in.

SESSION 5: WELLNESS. It can be challenging for architects, engineers and building owners to successfully implement wellness features when designing sustainable buildings. In this session panelists will explore how building automation can improve wellness features such as ventilation technology, IAQ monitoring and lighting.

SESSION 6: IMPROVING PERFORMANCE WHILE REDUCING RISKS. Building automation can integrate across more building systems than ever before. This session will explore the potential for data sharing between building systems and the implementation tactics that reduce security risks.
