This lecture is about the design challenges experienced during the CIVEC – Contractor Initiated Value Engineering Change from Cable Stays Bridge to Conventional Causeway Type Three Span Bridge. Objective of today’s lecture is (1) Steel Design & Detailing Complexities (2) Hydrodynamic Scour Analysis and (3) Steel Erection Design and Construction Approach.

Cagri Ozgur, PhD, PE is a Structural Engineer. Dr. Ozgur has over eight years of experience in the areas of structural, bridge, and earthquake engineering, stability, and finite element analysis for a variety of structures such as highway bridges, residential, nuclear, and industrial buildings, and ducts. Dr. Ozgur primarily led the steel, erection, seismic designs for the Value Engineering Redesign of the City Island Road Bridge.
Gregory Fisher, PE is a Project Manager. Mr. Fisher is a structural project manager and engineer with over 19 years of experience in design and construction support services for bridge and infrastructure projects in the New York metropolitan area. He was the project manager and engineer of record for the Value Engineering Redesign of the City Island Road Bridge.
